Yes, I am a single woman, yet I know what love is. Although my sons are more than 3,000 miles away at the moment, I still smile with pride because I have had the chance to know them, to encourage them and to love them.
There need not be another great love in my life. I truly can’t imagine anything more impactful. I am fulfilled by being able to call myself their Mom. The loving part of my life is complete.
I have two love songs I picked out, one for each son. I plan to dance with them to these songs at their weddings.
For Solomon, my sugarpop, my honeybun, my love button, I chose I Knew I Loved You by Savage Garden. This song reminds me so much of my sugar lump because before he was born, before I even knew I was pregnant with him, I made a wish for him. Not just a wish for another child. I told their Dad that I wished for another son, a chunky baby, and I said I would name him Solomon. The very next year, 3 days after my birthday, Solomon was born. I spoke him into existence. I willed him into being. He is smart, creative, driven, talented, loving and magical. He is truly my biggest and best wish come true.
For SaiDON, my Sugarbear, my cutiepie, my coco puff, I chose The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me by Gladys Knight because no matter what, the thoughtfulness,, kindness and love he has for me is palpable. I never doubt his love for me. I trust his love for me. There is no other person in this world that I know has demonstrated such respect and love for me than he has. He sees me. Even when everyone else is too busy or too caught up in life- I am a significant part of his and I have never doubted that. I am so glad I became a young Mom in college. Becoming his Mom was truly the best thing that ever happened to me.
